Favorite Recommended Read
The book I recommend is Girl in Translation by Jean Kwok. It is the story of a girl who immigrated from China to the US. It made me really think about the assumptions I sometimes make about my students. Especially about supplies. I have really made more of an effort to allow more time in class if we have a coloring or gluing activity so they don't have to take it home. Or if there isn't enough time offering to let students take supplies home since some don't have things like color pencils.
